Testosterone Replacement Therapy
Testosterone Replacement Therapy, commonly referred to as simply TRT, is the practice of diagnosing a person with low levels of testosterone and optimizing their levels to a natural state. Treatment is administered by either injections, creams, patches, or surgically implanted pellets. At our Med Spa, we commonly suggest using injection therapy and or an implant of bioidentical hormone therapy (BIOTE).
How Do I know If I have Low Testosterone?
The only way to know for sure is by having a hormone panel, a blood test. It’s possible to have all the symptoms of low Testosterone but find it is actually a case of high prolactin or estrogen. Ongoing bloodwork is the only way to fine tune your dosage and make sure hormone and vitamin levels are in sync.
What are the most common side effects of TRT?
Using testosterone from outside the body will result in your own testosterone no longer being produced. TRT is not supplemental but a complete replacement. Due to the testicles no longer being in use, some patients report a 30% reduction in size. Using exogenous T may also make males infertile. It is possible to re-engage the testicles to regain size and natural testosterone production once on TRT.

What are symptoms of low Testosterone?
Men, along with some women, with low testosterone commonly feel tired or fatigued during the day while experiencing poor sleep quality at night. A person’s short term memory may also suffer from low T. One of the most common causes of Erectile Dysfunction is a lack of adequate hormone levels. Men capable of an erection may find low libido is their leading symptom.
Once horomone levels are optimized, patients should expect improvement in energy and concentration, higher quality erections, and an increased sex drive. Patients often report an improvement in mental acuity.
